The Snow Queen

alt

A collaboration with Patrick Dineen and the Unity Theatre produced The Snow Queen. The show won rave reviews and with its epic feel and layered themes, appealed to both adults and children a like.  Petite Ullaloom both performed and created a script from the rehearsal process.

'In this exciting, new adaptation of Hans Anderson’s classic tale, Gerda overcomes temptations and obstacles in the search for her lost best friend Kai. He sees only the worst of things in life since shards of magic mirror lodged in his eyes. As a result he has grown cruel, and fallen easy prey to the Snow Queen, who has stolen him away to her snow-capped castles of the north'

...a little darker than many other shows on offer, with more than a hint of delightful menace... intelligent use of effects... A fine young cast... ..one of the festive highlights of the year.
The Stage

...a show that will appeal to both adults and children alike. It’s by turns funny and dark, inventive and poignant and always slickly executed... The original score... composed by director Patrick Dineen and is superb... A visually rich Christmas treat...
Liverpool Echo (Rating: 9/10)

This version may have an cheerful conclusion but there is plenty of darkness along the way... plenty of songs and a tiny bit of audience participation (kids only)... Patrick Dineen has created a soundscape that swings between disconcerting and Disney on speed... the Unity has done its 21-year tradition of retelling classic stories proud.

Liverpool Daily Post

...I left the theatre thoroughly entertained and with the feeling I had just witnessed something unique...
The Chester Chronicle
